2. I purchased this CD because I was reading a book titled The Cello Suites - J. S. Bach, and the search for a Baraque Masterpiece (Pablo Casals). The book and cd compliment one another, this is music for the person who seeks an appreciation for Bach's work and an opportunity to listen quietly in meditation or quiet reading along with listening/5(28).

3. Pablo Casals recorded J.S. Bach 's 6 Cello Suites for EMI between 19in London and Paris, and these legendary recordings have been in print for many decades without break/

4. This is likely the best CD transfer of Bach's Cello Suites with Casals. The sound is fresh and enjoyable. I have the later EMI transfer (EMI ) and an earlier transfer of the G major Suite BWV on EMI Above it, I have Casals on LPs in a good condition/5(10).

Yet when sixty years ago the twenty-four-year-old Mstislav Rostropovich () first performed all the suites in public, it was a trailblazing act, linking up to the previous endeavour of Pablo Casals.
